Lani is the daughter of an ex-Mexican drug smuggling surfer and a librarian, so naturally, two of her greatest loves in life are the ocean and books. Her “cowboy” husband convinced her to leave the sandy shores of Southern California for the mountains of Idaho, where she stubbornly wears flip flops no matter how cold it gets.
A middle school science teacher with a degree in psychology, Lani loves writing about deep emotions and meaningful characters, especially in a science fiction or fantasy setting. She firmly agrees with Robert Frost when he says, “No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader.”
Her YA historical fantasy “The Seventh Sun” is a finalist in the Catherine contest through Toronto Romance Writers and a finalist in the Emma Merritt contest through the San Antonio RWA. She is actively querying agents and hoping to see it published someday soon!
Lani is a member of Romance Writers of America (RWA), Society of Children’s Book Writer’s and Illustrators (SCBWI), and American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW). She is also a proud Gryffindor.
When she isn’t writing, Lani can be found playing with her two young children, scuba diving through a kelp forest, or losing herself in a good book.
